Wine Tasting in Temecula

Yesterday I got to go wine tasting in the Temecula, CA, area. In the picture at the left, I am with Elitania at the Robert Renzoni Vineyards. Elitania was very helpful to me during the tasting and provided some very nice wines. The Renzoni family has been in the wine business since 1886 when Robert's great-grandfather worked in the vineyards of Italy.
In the second picture, I am with Debra at the Masia De Yabar Vineyard and Winery. The tasting room at this winery has been open for about seven weeks. The Yabar family brings its wine making knowledge from Peru. I really like the port wine they produce.

Until next time, Gus

Diamond Valley Lake, CA

Welcome to Southern California. At the left, I am with Candice, a guide at Diamond Valley Lake. The lake is a recent project to store water for the use of about 18 million residents of Southern California. The lake holds almost 260 billion gallons of water, although the recent drought has the level down considerably. Some recreation is allowed on the lake, but it is tightly controlled. The lake has been stocked with Bass, Trout, Bluegill and Catfish. There are bike and hiking trails around the lake with many viewing areas. This truly is the "Jewel of California Lakes" as advertised by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

My Friend "Amigo"

On New Year's Day I made a new friend. Christine Nieto, who worked with Jim at CTB/McGraw-Hill, brought her dog Amigo to meet me. We had lots of fun and Sami and Amigo got to hike the hills nearby.
Christine also brought her husband, Shawn, and their friend Andrew. Pat made chicken enchildas and we had a great start to the new year.
Until next time--Gus

San Diego

I spent the last two weeks in the San Diego area. We were parked at Pio Pico (A Thousand Trails Preserve) about 20 miles east of the ocean. Jim & Pat took me and Sami to Coronado Island several times. The picture to the left is the view I had back toward downtown San Diego across San Diego Bay.

The other picture is of Sami playing in the water on the beach just up from the Coronado Hotel. She enjoyed the water, but had just as much fun running in the sand and meeting other dogs.
I had a safe and sane New Year's Eve.

Happy New Year to all.

Warmest regards, Gus
