Paul Bunyan's Boat Anchor

This week I am in Ortonville, MN, located on the Big Stone River. In the pictures to the left, I am sitting in front of the 110-ton granite anchor that Paul Bunyan used for his boat when he fished in the area.
It is very interesting how much Paul traveled in Minnesota.
The weather has been cool with rain here. It is supposed to be nice in a couple of days and I am thinking of going to Fargo, ND. I don't think the Red River of the North is flooding at this time of the year.
Warmest regards, Gus

Stock Car Driver

Last Saturday, Tracy Johnson let me sit in his Modified Stock Car while he prepared it to race that night. He painted the car to help raise money to fight cancer. I think he finished 5th in the race that night.
Since leaving Sioux Falls, I have traveled to Ortonville, MN, located across the Minnesota River from Big Stone City, South Dakota. The MN River flows from Big Stone Lake and ends up flowing into the Mississippi River at Fort Snelling (Twin Cities).

Missouri River Flooding

Yesterday, I left Nebraska City, NE, and traveled east on Highway #2 across the Missouri River. About one and a half miles east of the main channel of the river, and not far from I-29, the right lane of the highway was closed due to flood waters. It is expected that by Friday, the entire highway will be under water and closed to traffic. Just past this section of highway, the gas stations are preparing to shut down. One had already pulled its pumps from the tanks. This is all before the Corps of Engineers was going to release more water behind the dams in South Dakota.
Now I am in Sioux Falls, SD.
Warmest regards, Gus
