Stock Car Driver

Last Saturday, Tracy Johnson let me sit in his Modified Stock Car while he prepared it to race that night. He painted the car to help raise money to fight cancer. I think he finished 5th in the race that night.
Since leaving Sioux Falls, I have traveled to Ortonville, MN, located across the Minnesota River from Big Stone City, South Dakota. The MN River flows from Big Stone Lake and ends up flowing into the Mississippi River at Fort Snelling (Twin Cities).

Missouri River Flooding

Yesterday, I left Nebraska City, NE, and traveled east on Highway #2 across the Missouri River. About one and a half miles east of the main channel of the river, and not far from I-29, the right lane of the highway was closed due to flood waters. It is expected that by Friday, the entire highway will be under water and closed to traffic. Just past this section of highway, the gas stations are preparing to shut down. One had already pulled its pumps from the tanks. This is all before the Corps of Engineers was going to release more water behind the dams in South Dakota.
Now I am in Sioux Falls, SD.

Colorado Springs, CO

I took my cousins Danielle and Christopher to visit Cheyene Mt. State Park yesterday. I wanted to check out the park and see what the campground looked like. There are nice camp sites with great views of Colorado Springs and lots of hiking trails. Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the trails, so Sami couldn't go with us.
Then we went to Garden of the Gods and Sami got to hike with us. We had a fun day.

Out of Africa Wildlife Park

I went to Out of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde, AZ, this week. In addition to this beautiful white tiger, I got to see lots of tigers, lions, giraffes, hyenas, and other predators. The most fun, though, was watching the tigers in the splash arena. In this large arena, with a pool, the staff allows the tigers to "play" in and out of the water. The
tigers are not trained, but allowed to follow their instincts for hunting and playing. The staff become the "prey."
All of the animals seem to be well-fed and in good health. The habitats are large and not too confining. Yet people can see the animals up close and personal.

Boyd

Betty and I went over to meet our neighbor across the street today. We have been watching Boyd come and go with his owners as he rode on the motorcycle and traveled in the truck. I don't think he was too happy as we he was eating peanut butter when we arrived and wasn't too interested in sitting with us.
We are still in Verde Valley, just south of Cottonwood, AZ. We will start our trip to Colorado Springs next week.

Night Out at Fantasy Rally

Last week, I took Betty and Billy out for a fun evening at the Fantasy RV Rally in Pahrump, NV. The food and drink was great and we had a nice time meeting many of the other 100+ people attending the rally.
