On Friday, Jonathan at Sanders Winery allowed me to taste a number of their fine wines. The winery has only been open about ten months, but they planted some of their vines about six years ago. They started bottling wine in 2010. If you ever get to Pahrump, I would suggest that you drop in and visit Jonathan.
Yesterday I took a trip to Mt. Charleston, just outside of Las Vegas, NV. When I was at the ski area (first picture) at about noon, it was 65 degrees. At the same time in Las Vegas the temperature was in the 90s. It eventually got to 100 in Las Vegas.

On Monday, we left Cottonwood AZ, and drove to Pahrump, NV. On the way, we crossed the Colorado River on the new bridge. This picture was taken from the bridge as we drove across it. At the bottom of the picture you can see the top of Hoover Dam with the beginning of Lake Mead in the background. 
Last week I went to Out of Africa in Camp Verde, AZ, to watch Zion play in the pool. He sure had fun jumping into the water to chase his prey.
This picture is of Roosevelt Dam on the Salt River. The dam was extended about 15-20 years ago to provide additional flood protection. The bridge was built across Roosevelt Lake to keep Globe and Payson connected by highway. The old route was across the dam, but that route was lost with the reconstruction.
These pictures show Canyon Lake, with the saguaro cacti in the foreground and one of the one-lane bridges on the route. This section is paved and in good shape.
Yesterday, cousins Jim and Pat took Betty and me (along with Sami) on a 125-mile trip on the Apache Trail. One section of the trail is the old stage coach and freight wagon route from Mesa to Globe, AZ. Twenty-two miles of the route is still unpaved, and rough in parts.
In the pictures, Betty and I are at Tortilla Flat, AZ, an old stagecoach stop with a saloon which has served travelers for over 100 years. The old "facilities" have been replaced with modern restrooms.
