Yesterday, cousins Jim and Pat took Betty and me (along with Sami) on a 125-mile trip on the Apache Trail. One section of the trail is the old stage coach and freight wagon route from Mesa to Globe, AZ. Twenty-two miles of the route is still unpaved, and rough in parts.
The trip provides views of breathtaking canyons, desert lakes (Canyon, Apache, Roosevelt), towering saguaro cacti and desert wildflowers. In the pictures, Betty and I are at Tortilla Flat, AZ, an old stagecoach stop with a saloon which has served travelers for over 100 years. The old "facilities" have been replaced with modern restrooms.
Warmest regards, Gus
